The reactors of СРОС(З), УРОС types are intended for smoothing ripples of the rectified current in converter circuits and supplied as a component in the motor drive circuits. The reactor is designed to operate in a temperate climate areas, in closed spaces with natural ventilation.

The reactor consists of the following main parts: winding, taps, magnetic conductor (core) and  housing. The winding cylindric, coils of which are wound by aluminum bus. With gaskets and rails, the windings are fastened between glass-cloth supports and pressed by beams. All metal parts of the reactor have a protective anti-corrosion coating.
The reactors are ГОСТ 16772-77 compliant.
Smoothing reactor is static electromagnetic device, its inductance is used in electrical mains for reducing high harmonics (pulsations) in the rectified current. The smoothing reactor is usually connected in series with the rectifier, so the entire load current flows through it. Thus, only AC component of the current is limited, and the electrical losses in the reactor are low.
Using electrical steel core allows to reduce magnetic losses and create significant inductance at relatively small dimensions and weight.
Basically, smoothing reactors are used in DC mains with up to 2000V voltage, in control systems, for example for controlling the rotation speed of frequency-regulated drives and in DC drives with thyristor converters for rolling mills. Smoothing reactors are to be mounted on a converter side.
УРОС is smoothing reactors of equalising type, designed to get the same (equal) rectified voltage at arms of converters.

Reactors are made of voltage classes up to 2 kV as standard, and up to 10 kV under customers request.

The reactors climatic performance is У (УХЛ), accommodation category 4 according to ГОСТ 15150-69, natural air cooling. Protection degree IP21 - coated version, IP00 - unprotected, or other on request.
